Back, Neck, Shoulder Pain Treatment for Back to School Pains

Back, Neck, and Shoulder Pain Treatment From Our Arlington Heights Chiropractors

At Arlington Chiropractic Clinic, our chiropractors often see an increase of patients coming in with back, neck, and shoulder pain around the beginning of the school year. There are many potential causes for this pain, including stress put on the back from backpacks, as well as increased amount of time sitting in chairs within classrooms. Back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain related to school activities can occur in both adults and children, and our experienced team is able to treat patients of all ages!

Can Backpacks Cause Back, Neck, and Shoulder Pain?

When loaded up with books and other school supplies, backpacks can be heavy enough to cause significant back strain. Over time, this can lead to persistent back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain. To avoid this, students should do their best to keep the weight loads of their backpacks to a minimum, and to always wear backpacks properly with straps around each shoulder.

In addition to backpacks, back/neck and shoulder pain can be caused by the prolonged periods of time students spend sitting behind desks, often in uncomfortable chairs, during the school year. To minimize aches and pains, students are encouraged to strive for proper posture while sitting. When possible, such as while studying at the library, students should also try to take frequent breaks to walk around.

If you're already experiencing back pain, neck pain, or shoulder pain this school year, seeing a chiropractor can help. There are plenty of non-invasive and drug-free treatment options available that can help you find relief from your pain and prevent it from returning as well.
