Safe Driving Tips From Your Arlington Heights Chiropractor

Safe Driving Tips From Your Arlington Heights Chiropractor

Local driving conditions can be very dangerous in winter! At Arlington Chiropractic Clinic, we frequently see an increase in whiplash and auto accident injuries during the winter months. We want all of our patients to stay safe, so we encourage everyone to follow safe driving habits when the weather turns cold.

Tips to Stay Safe on the Road this Winter in Arlington

  1. Check your tires and replace if necessary. Balding tires can make it difficult to maintain control on icy roads. Have your mechanic inspect your tires before the winter begins, and replace your tires if necessary.

  2. Pack your car with emergency supplies and provisions. Keep your car packed with a flashlight, batteries, blankets, extra food, water, a spare tire and jack.

  3. Avoid routes on unplowed roads after snow and ice storms. Major roads tend to be plowed first after a snow or ice storm ends. Avoid traveling on roads that aren't plowed when storms are over.

  4. Slow down for black ice. Black ice is almost impossible to see but can cause terrible accidents on the road. Black ice usually looks like a puddle, but will not produce splashes on the back of vehicles driving by. If you recognize black ice on the road, slow your driving speed and get off the road as soon as possible.
